The growth in the number of PCs and Internet broadband connections worldwide is creating big changes in our normal life, simplifying most of our normal tasks, but at the same time creating new challenges because the complexity of the new technology utilization. New functionalities have been linked to an increase of the complexity and a lack of stability of the systems, causing a big jump at the technical support needs of the final users.

This increase, however, is also linked to a larger competition and margin reduction at the Technology Industry, and it is not being solved adequately. Costs associated with telephone or face to face support cannot be absorbed by the small corporate margins. As a result of it, user frustration is increasing and the customer satisfaction associated with most of the support services is very low. Making the problem worst, the differentiation among applications or peripherals is becoming less clear, and virus, spam and spyware continue to spread.
One of the solutions already in place is the utilization of the web and web tools to solve these problems.
